FUT Method

(Follicle Unit Transplantation)

This method of hair transplantation, the so-called strip method , involves the removal of an approx 10-15 cm large strip-shaped piece of skin from the crown of the head in order to obtain hair follicles from it. The place at which the strip of skin was taken is sewn up again. Then, the strip of skin that has been removed is split into the natural groupings, the follicular units . Due to the way the skin has been removed, there will be a scar at the back of the head. Even if the scar is relatively thin, it can be quite problematic for short hair styles. However, the scars can also reach a significant breadth, particularly if the patient has a tendency towards chronic scarring. It is not possible to predict how the strip scar at the back of the head will develop.
